Hi guys! I wanted to announce that I will be conducting my first class of the year this coming Spring starting Tuesday, March 29th, 2016. The schedule will be 8 weekly sessions held every Tuesday evening from 6p-8p, and we’ll finish up on May 17th. Classes are conducted at the Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle, PA, Ph: 724.652.2882. Sign-up hasn’t quite started yet, but once the schedule is posted on their website, just give them a call and they’ll take care of you.
If you’re not familiar with the class, it’s one that I’ve been doing for a few years now and every session has seen many wonderful students come together to learn photography, make some new friends, and push themselves to grow artistically and creatively. The class is geared towards beginner and intermediate photographers who are interested in learning and developing the basic universal concepts of photography, as well as dipping into some additional practical aspects of photography like basic flash and event shooting.
The classes themselves are divided into a critique session for reviewing and analyzing each student’s assignment photos, a technical demonstration and discussion of new concepts, and lastly a weekly assignment designed to reinforce and practice the concepts introduced during the class demonstration.
As far as equipment is concerned, students must provide a camera that is capable of full control such as a typical DSLR, bridge camera, or film SLR. Students should also have a way of bringing their work for display in class – usually a thumb drive with the image files is best, but also prints will work as well if large enough (8×10 minimum). Tablets and laptops are another option for displaying work.
There you have it! If this all sounds interesting and something you’d like to participate in, don’t hesitate to sign up and become one of the many students who’ve had fun learning new skills and developing their photo mojo by taking my class. We have a good time, and I love seeing everyone progress over the course of the class!
