Wanted to take a moment to announce that I will be having a solo show of some of my documentary photos of Japan entitled, “毎日 : Every Day” at The Blue Heron Art Gallery in Volant, PA, 01/04/2011 – 02/26/2011. These are photos that I took while living and working in Japan from November, 2001 – September, 2003, and are being selected to show a slice of Japanese everyday life that many are not privy to seeing in the typical mass-media images that are commonly found outside of the country. I’ll also have on display some of my pottery work created while I was over there, as well as my wife’s own Japanese sashiko needlework, which is very beautiful in its own right.
In case you’re wondering, The Blue Heron Gallery is a small local gallery that I volunteer at as Assistant Store Manager that is geared towards providing opportunities for regional artists to show their work to a larger audience, as well as providing educational opportunities for young people and cultural education to the region in general. We’re not very big, but our heart is in the right place, and I’m proud to be associated with the gallery as it serves a purpose that is very beneficial to the region and its communities. We have a wide variety of artists and art on display, so if you’re ever in the area, please stop by and take a look.
Details for the dates, location, and the opening reception are included in the images below of the show promo card that I designed. If you have any questions at all, please drop my a line via my Contact link above. Thanks!
