Went out to go shoot the ’10 Pittsburgh World Of Wheels classic/custom auto show on Friday afternoon and evening. I had planned to go for sometime now, so I Â grabbed my gear and headed out to the David Lawrence Center in downtown Pittsburgh where it was held. The doors opened at 3p, so I made extra sure to have enough time open on Friday to get there early so as to get in before the bulk of the crowds showed up later. It was a good plan because for most of the first few hours it was mainly the exhibitors and early-birds like myself, which allowed me to take my time and shoot at a leisurely pace, get my shots with few if any spectators in them, and also meet and speak with some of the exhibitors about their cars.
As for the show itself, it was a good mix of classic and modern cars, and presented a reasonably wide slice of the custom car/hot rod scene I think. You had everything from hotrods, to rat rods, to racing cars, to beautifully restored and original classics as well. There was even a hot-rodded toilet for those so inclined. Particularly interesting, at least to me, was the large display of vintage/old school drag racers on hand, with some stunningly preserved early cars from the greats Garlits, Kalitta, and Prudhomme standing out especially.
In all, I’ll have just over 100 shots to post in the gallery once I’m done editing, which should be fairly soon. In the meantime, here’s some shots of one of the many vintage racers that caught my eye. Built by Bob George and raced by Britt Mizia, it’s a beautiful piece of work. Many thanks to Mr. George for his kindness and graciousness for giving me a bit of extra access to shoot the interior, and some friendly conversation in addition.
The gallery of images is here, check back often as it will be updated regularly as I complete my editing.
Hey there I was wondering if has any info on when or if the new Dodge Charger would be released? I heard that it would be an actual coupe this time around.
Sorry, I heard nothing about it from anyone I spoke with.
The brand new Dodge Charger is really cool! It incorporates some of the nicest styling cues of the original, and tosses in some modern edginess as well. Looks-wise, it is absolutely jaw dropping.
